![]() But a 4DX experience isn’t a matter of sensory overload. With so many instruments inside each auditorium, it might be easy to simply crank everything up and put the room on full blast. They call it ‘the back kicker,’” Kim laughs. The bells and whistles of a 4DX auditorium include wind machines, strobe lights, snow simulation (it’s foam), smoke scents and a device inside the seats that thrusts into the shoulders of audience members. “We have what we officially call the three degrees of freedom - our chairs move with the pitch (a forward-and-backward rolling motion), the yaw (a left-and-right turning motion) and the heave (an up-and-down elevating motion),” explains Paul Kim, SVP of content and production at CJ 4DPlex. “Then there’s the vibrations and then we have 21 different effects across all of our equipment.” Those who decide to see the film in 4DX will experience each movement onscreen as a motion in their seats, which shake and wobble to the rhythm of the action. Save yourself the $27.Over the course of “Bullet Train,” Pitt will get socked, stabbed, chucked and chased as he untangles a complicated web of conflicting hit jobs. This kind of stuff is great for like 15 minute theme park films but not a whole two hour movie. I honestly am so glad that I saw Ready Player One last week and didn’t have this be my first experience with it. Oh, did I mention it’s in 3D? So after getting rained on, you had to take your glasses off and wipe them off in order to see. Also, in a scene where it was raining, they had it rain in the theater for a solid 30 seconds. I think the theory was that they would simulate lightning or camera flashes but all it did was light up the whole theater taking you out of the moment. There were these weird flashing lights that would go off. It got so bad that someone went and got a theater employee who came in and said, “oh there is just something wrong with the program, it will stop when the movie starts.” The water effect was also aim right at my lap, which was just super awkward, luckily you could turn that off. After we sat down, the seats would violently vibrate every 5 minutes and then would proceed to poke us every 30 seconds. The seats would also vibrate and had pokers in them. I left the theater and my tailbone was it so much pain. Every time I would finally find a spot that was sort of comfortable, the seat would shift downward almost knocking me out of the seat. Which caused me to spend most of the movie leaning on my friend so that I didn’t get to close to the stranger sitting next to me. They were kind of small and were uncomfortably close to the seat next to you. Imagine having to sit through Shrek 4D at Universal for 2 hours. ![]() The 4DX theater is probably one of the worst movie experiences I’ve ever had. If none of things I mentioned bothers you then go enjoy yourself, but if you can wait till they stuff together or go to a better and cleaner movie franchise such as Cinemark or AMC. I am considering to cancel my membership, but at the end of the day this particular Regal needs lots and lots and lots of help. Poor management, horrible administration, not sanitary and ultimately unprofessional. I am a monthly subscriber and I love the concept of watching unlimited movies for a set monthly price, but I have noticed that this is a trend with Regal. He didn't sweep, disinfect or clean up or even attempt to really try. Well that one employee came in and grabbed 2 bottles and left. The manager apologized, radio an employee, and said it was going to be a handled. We weren't satisfied with that answer so we went seeking a manager. He told us, he was sorry, but there was only one cleaner and hopefully he could get to that theater before the movie started (which was about to start in 10 minutes at the time). So my wife and I both walked to speak to a worker. When we walk in, the theater is filthy, with wrappers, ketchup spills, soda bottles, water bottles, popcorn in the floor. Anyone could easily walk in for the movie for free. I bought my tickets on my app- so when I arrived I looked for someone to scan my tickets, but no one was around. Therefore I expect this to not only be worth it but I expect it to well kept, clean, organized and disinfected as promised. I purchased the 4DX tickets which as you all know is an experience and is a bit more expensive than regular theater seats. I've been here before and what I witnessed and experienced today was disheartening.
